Craig Allison, DDS
Dr. Allison received an entrance scholarship to the University of Western Ontario in 1980 and a three year continuing scholarship after his first year of undergraduate studies. He was accepted into the dental school at UWO after his second year of University and joined the Canadian Armed Forces under the Dental Officers Training Program, receiving his commission in August 1982.
During his time at UWO School of Dentistry, Dr. Allison was honoured with fifteen awards including the UWO Gold Medal, for the greatest proficiency throughout the entire four years of the dental program, graduating in 1986 with distinction.
After graduation he was posted to Lahr, West Germany for three years. He provided general dental services to 444 Squadron, 4 Service Battalion, 4 Field Ambulance, 4 Field Engineers and 4 MP Platoon. Much of his time was spent “in the field”, training alongside other soldiers and performing dentistry in the evenings. During his posting he attended the American Forces Institute of Pathology for Forensic Dentistry, qualified as an ACLS provider and instructor, completed a course in the removal of wisdom teeth, established a dental education program for the primary schools and lectured on emergency medical procedures for the dental office.
Dr. Allison accepted a residency in Periodontics at the University of Toronto, after his release from the Military in 1990. He continued practicing general dentistry as an associate until his graduation with a Diploma in Periodontics in 1992. Peterborough Periodontics was established in August 1992 and Dr. Allison continues to enjoy providing periodontal services to Peterborough and the surrounding area.
